H.E. Dr. Ahmad Al-Sharif Secretary General of DSC & Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Swimming Championship – Dubai 2010 – held a meeting with Mr. Julio Maglione the new FINA President, Mr. Cornel Marculescu the FINA Executive Director on the sideline of World Swimming Championships in Rome.
FINA confirmed confidence that the 10th World Swimming Championships (25m) – to be hosted by Dubai in 2010 – will be one of the most successful Championships due to the organizational capacity of UAE in hosting & rrganising great sports events.
The FINA President & the FINA Bureau members are also feeling satisfied since their latest meetings held in Dubai last March during which they noticed the good preparations & organizational abilities along with the official support of Dubai leadership represented in the meeting held with H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum the Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
It is worth-mentioning that Dr. Al-Sharif chaired the Council's official delegation to Rome to hold meetings with the international officials top of whom are the FINA President & Executive Director / Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Championships …etc. The official delegation also intended to observe the level of organization via Heads of Committees & Members of Organising Committee of the World Championships – Dubai 2010 – who departed to Rome to be acquainted with the level of organizations and to get benefits from the friends’ experiences along with recording remarks so that they will be able to do the best during next World Championships – Dubai 2010. Presentation has also been made for a photographical exhibition about Dubai along with its sports & tourist facilities.
Dr. Al-Sharif conveyed the compliments of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of DSC. He extended congratulations for Mr. Julio Maglione the occasion of his election as new FINA President to succeed the previous President, Mr. Mustapha Larfaoui.
Mr. Maglione said: “I like Dubai because it enjoys good reputation around the world. I liked it more after we spent there splendid days during the meetings of the FINA Bureau last March during which we were kindly received & hosted. We felt your keenness to organize distinctive championship in 2010. We also wish to see good results & new world records for swimmers.
Dr. Al-Sharif reviewed with the FINA President & Executive Director the latest stages of preparations for organising the next Championship in Dubai. Both Mr. Maglione & Mr. Cornel explained their happiness with respect to the process of works for hosting the Championships. They renewed confidence of the organizational abilities of the People of UAE. They mentioned that the preparatory processes are under going as per the agenda decided by the Higher Organising Committee of the Championships / FINA and according to the most international modern criteria.
H.E. Mater Al-Tayer Deputy Chairman of Higher Organising Committee confirmed – during his meetings with the FINA Delegation – that the organizational process of the Championship has acquired top level governmental support. He added that Dubai will present to the world a distinctive Championship that reflects the ability of UAE in organising the international great events.
