10th FINA WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS (25m) Dubai 2010
WELCOME MESSAGE

It is for me a great pleasure to welcome all the FINA National Member Federations, their athletes, coaches and officials participating in the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) to be held in Dubai (UAE) from December 15-19, 2010.
The FINA Family will certainly have good reasons to be delighted. At the new and spectacular Dubai Sports Complex, our best swimmers will show to the world the beauty of our sport through their memorable performances.
Thanks to the devoted work of our 201 National Federations, to the FINA policy aiming a wider participation in its competitions and to the continuous support of our partners, sponsors and media representatives in the promotion of our championships, we are today able to create “Aquatic Festivals”. The 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Dubai will not be an exception: it will attract thousands of spectators and the images of the competition will reach hundreds of millions of TV viewers worldwide.
The exciting and metropolitan city of Dubai is used to shine in the international sport scene. Its recent but successful experience and the efficiency of its organisers are this time meant to serve FINA. We are therefore certain that everything will be undertaken to provide the best possible conditions for the swimmers, officials, media representatives and spectators. Our confidence and gratitude to Dubai (where several of our major meetings and world open water events were held in the last years) is so strong that we have recently appointed this city as the organiser of the 15th FINA World Championships in 2013.
In this occasion, I especially thank the United Arab Emirates Swimming Association, the Dubai Sports Council and to the Organisers of the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) for their hard work and commitment in the set-up and running of the competition.
Welcome to Dubai and good luck to everyone!
Dr. Julio Maglione
FINA President
